The short animation film ‘Grandpa’ by author Dubravko Kastrapeli and producer Maša Udovičić has been proposed for participation in the Euro Connection 2025!
The CED - MEDIA Office Croatia proudly announces that the Croatian short animation ‘Grandpa’ by author Dubravko Kastrapeli and the producer Maša Udovičić (Luma Film) has been proposed for participation in the Euro Connection 2025.
The short animation 'Grandpa', as well as other projects approved by the expert jury of individual countries, will be subjected to further evaluation by an international jury, and the final decision on the film's participation in the Euro Connection 2025 will be announced by the end of this month.
This year’s proposed Croatian representative at the Euro Connection 2025 is the project ‘Grandpa’ by author and producer Maša Udovičić (Luma Film), which was inspired by the poem of the same name by the Istrian poet Drago Gervais, and whose focus is the relationship between a grandpa and his grandchild.
The national jury that evaluated the submitted projects consisted of animated film director and animator Petra Zlonoga, producer Morana Ikić Komljenović (Little Red Dot), and Head of CED-MEDIA Office Croatia - Martina Petrović.
The jury explained its decision to propose the 'Grandpa' project for further evaluation as follows:
“It is a universal, heart-warming story of a grandson and his relationship with his dearly departed grandpa, accepting a great loss by finding strength in memories shared. As such, this is a story that can travel and resonate well with different cultures and heritage. The 2D classically, hand-animated style evokes the organic warmth of a human presence. Additionally, the character design is treated in the same way – portraying the characters as approachable, lovable, simple, while visually, skilfully, and dramaturgically well crafted.”
