Rad se odvija kroz kombinaciju rezidencijalnih i online sesija, a sudionici također imaju mogućnost pohađati nekoliko masterclassova o raznim temama povezanim s pripovijedanjem.
Tijekom programa pripravnici za urednika scenarija imat će priliku primijeniti stečene vještine vodeći jednu sesiju za svoje dodijeljene projekte. Osim toga, dobit će smjernice i savjete o tome kako izgraditi profesionalnu karijeru urednika scenarija.

TFL SeriesLab & SeriesLab Story Editing is training course designed for international teams of writers and producers willing to develop original and commercially viable TV series projects, as well as for TV and film professionals interested in being trained as story editors.
SeriesLab is the annual programme, aimed at developing innovative and marketable international fiction TV series projects. The lab stands out for involving all the main players connected to TV series production - scriptwriters, producers, distributors, broadcasters and so on - and for offering a close link between scriptwriting process and TV industry. It follows the entire process of creation of a TV series concept: from determining the fundamental building blocks of the project through creating the story of the season to writing the pilot episode, thanks to the support of highly qualified tutors and industry professionals.
The purpose of the training course is to create a solid and clear concept document of the project, highlighting its main selling points, and the first draft of the pilot episode script. The final package should be enriched by additional materials, strengthening the selling potential of the project - such as mood board, mood video, and a pitch.
The selected participants will work in three groups, each of them guided by an experienced script tutor. A story editor trainee – who works side by side with the tutor – will complete each group.
SeriesLab offers lectures and one-to-one meetings with different experts from the industry, and concludes and completes the training with a final presentation at an industry event, during which the participants can test their projects in front of an international audience. Participants will also have the chance to network with international film and TV series industry professionals and are granted visibility thanks to the TFL Catalogue. At the end of the programme TorinoFilmLab assigns up to two development grants (20,000 euros in total). The selection of the grant-winner project is done by an international and prestigious Jury.
SeriesLab is open to teams of international writers or writer-directors and their producers working on a project with European co-production potential.
Applications are made through the following link, while application materials include: logline, updated CV for each applicant, concept presentation, pilot step outline structured in bullet points, the first five pages of the pilot script, producer’s letter of interest, audiovisual approach documents (if available), a short video introduction and a short presentation of each applicant. Application deadline is January 10, 2025!
On the other hand, SeriesLab Story Editing is a hands-on training for audiovisual professionals who want to work with writers, writer-directors and their producers in the development stage of their fiction TV series projects. The aim of the programme is to provide an insight into the development process of a fiction TV series – focusing on the early concept development stage. The three selected participants will work under the guidance of a story editing tutor with a wide international experience, and besides the theoretical training, each participant will join a specific group, which involves three projects, selected from the SeriesLab programme.
The participants will have sessions to discuss the specific needs of each project with the SeriesLab tutors, as well as sessions focused on the general aspects of the development process with their story editing tutor. The work is conducted through a combination of in-person and online sessions, while trainees can also attend several masterclasses on a variety of subjects connected to storytelling.
During the programme, the story editor trainees will have the opportunity to apply their acquired skills by leading a development session for their assigned projects. In addition, they will receive guidance and advice on how to build a professional career as story editors.
SeriesLab Story Editing concludes and completes the training with a final presentation at an industry event where the trainees will be able to network with international film and TV series industry professionals and are granted visibility thanks to the TFL Catalogue.
SeriesLab Story Editing is open to film and TV professionals - story consultants, producers, readers for production companies/film funds, development executives and story editors working for broadcasters or production companies, etc. Film professionals without relevant experience with TV series projects but with an interest in learning how to work professionally on serialized fiction narratives, or TV professionals previously working only on non-fiction formats may also apply.
Applications are made through the following link, while application materials include: updated CV with relevant references/job experience, a motivation letter, a 1-minute video presentation, as well as a short written presentation. Application deadline is January 10, 2025!
The programmes will take place as follows:
